CD ReviewsThe Best Simple Minds on SACD! MC Control | Australia | 05/14/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "First let me get this off my chest.I am a Simple Minds fan.I own the entire remastered catalogue of original albums and was quite excited to finally get my hands on "The Minds'" Best of SACD.
This truly is a remarkable collection of tracks spanning the bands entire career up to 2000.I would normally be giving it five stars,however,for some unknown reason,when compiling this collection,the powers that be have only included the radio edit of "Love Song",one of the bands early break through singles.Thus the four star rating.This track is one of my faves and I can't understand why we get an edited version of this remarkable tune yet we get full versions from the "Once Upon A Time" album which is also available on SACD. I know I'm being fussy,but I already own "Once Upon A Time"on SACD and thought more time(there's plenty to spare on disc one)could have been set aside for tracks off OTHER albums. Don't get me wrong.This is a brilliant Best of from one of the worlds greatest bands and if you're a casual fan,you can't go wrong with this set.All the biggies are included."Alive and Kicking,Don't You(Forget About Me),Sancity Yourself" etc." |
