CD Reviews

Well Worth the Purchase Price

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is an excellent CD. There is really only one song I don't care for (Immer am Limit), but the rest are great. I particulary liked Durch die Nacht where the lead singer sounds a bit like Jewel, Symphonie, and Ohne Dich. Symphonie to my mind is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, and I can only understnad bits and pieces of it. It is a break up song and you can hear the heartbreak in her voice. Ohne Dich is more up tempo and I knew I was going to like it when I heard the line, "Es geht Mir gut, ohne Dich (I'm doing good, without you!)". With what is going on in my personal life at the time, I like it! I will be looking for more from Silbermond in the future"
Fantastic album

"Slbermond is a terrific rock band. I was playing Verschwende deine Zeit on my cd player and the valet who parked the car goes "Man, that's a great band, what language are they playing in?" Aside from the point that he should have recognized German, the fact that the valet immediately loved the song tells a lot about two things (1) how starved Americans are for good rock and roll and (2) this is a great rock and roll album. Symphonie is of course terrific for anyone with a broken heart. Nicht Verdient is terrifically funny social satire (think Jack Black "Tribute" or Styx "Grand Illusion)." Silbermond is a great band and this is a very good rock and roll album."
Curious?

"My understanding is that there is something of a renaissance occurring right now in German music. What turned me on to this was the curiosity to see what else is out there, i.e. non-American. The result is surprising.

Silbermond adheres to hard fast-paced style of rock, with effects thrown in for good measure. From what I can tell the lyrics, while sounding a little harsh to English-speaking ears, are simple and straightforward. That's nice since I also listen to a lot of Pearl Jam and The Doors.

Expect energy, creativity, and punch with this one. Try it."
