Synopsis

Amazon.com
On their sophomore release, Silage turn their penchant for writing disposable novelty tunes (such as "My Car Makes Me Sin," "I Like the Radio," and their surf-punk cover of the Beach Boys' "Be True to Your School," all from their debut disc, Watusi) into a knack for turning out clever, quirky pop songs with just the right amount of attitude. "Let's get lost in an original sound," reads the first line of the first song, "Original." And while we've heard this mix of hip-hop rhythms, distorted alternative-rock guitars, and the occasional surf melody before from groups like the Beastie Boys, Beck, Sublime, and 311, Silage know to keep their collective tongue firmly in cheek and refuse to take themselves too seriously while delivering serious entertainment bang for your buck. --Bradley S. CD Reviews

Odd cd

"When I first got the cd, i thought it was the worst cd I ever had. But the more I listened to it, the more I liked it; now it's one of my favorite cds. So don't throw it out if you don't like it at first. It's got a strange sound that you get to like a lot as you listen more."
"I heard a band that was better than the last one around..."

"Well, well, well...this one's quite interesting. This was the first album I picked up from these guys, even though it's their second. I demoed it a while before I bought it, but something about it just didn't appeal to me enough to me to make the purchase at the time. Until I heard one particular song from "Vegas" on another comp. That song was "Original". The beat, the lyrics, the guitar...everything about that song was awesome. Even though it's only a couple of minutes long, it grabs hold and doesn't let go until the end. When I bought the CD a couple months back, I found out that "Original" isn't even the best song on the album! These guys have a lot of fun on this one. The lyrics are very catchy, the guitars, drums, and DJ all blend quite well; it's one of the feel-good CD's of the year. It's a bit harder-edged than their first ("Watusi"), but if you liked that one, you'll really dig this. They cover almost the entire musical spectrum in the course of about 40 minutes, and they pull it off in spades. Sample it today; get it tomorrow. (By the way, the name "Silage" comes from Psalm 147:9, and it means "fodder for cattle".)"
Good rap?

"Yes there is such a thing. This just really had me moving. Unlike most artist of this genre, these guys right meaningful and insightful lyrics. Also this CD is cheap so listen to some samples and if you like what you hear then buy the freakin thing. My personal fav. track is VERB. It means alot to me and I often find myself singing it. Oh and by the way I happen to be into punk, hardcore, ska, metal, and emo, so it takes alot to impress me, and let me tell you, these guys blew me away. I loved every sing second of this amazing CD. Too bad these guys aren't together anymore. This is a must have for any music lover."
