Synopsis

Product Description
Shujaat Khan is the seventh generation of father to son musicians in the Imdadkhani Gharana named after his great grandfather. Shujaat is noted for the sweetness of his tone and the emotive and lyrical qualities of his renderings. Here, Shujaat presents a powerful and moving performance of raga Bilaskhani Todi created, as legend would have it, on the spot by Bilas Khan as he sang a tribute to his deceased father, the legendary Tansen. Shujaat Khan follows with a soothing rendition of the evergreen raga Bhairavi.

"It's quite dissapointing that there are these negative reviews on Shujaat's pages on this website. I hope people wanting to listen to his music and browsing for his albums aren't turned away by these reviews of people who are biased to Shahid Parvez and other players. Yes, Shahid Parvez is a marvelous sitar player, too. Let me be the one to say though that Ustad Shujaat Khan is one of the best hindustani musicians i have ever listened to. One would be foolish to pay attention to these reviews. It is like someone who prefers bach's compositions to beethoven coming on a site and saying "beethoven really dissapoints me, you should listen to bach he is the best!" Pretty sad huh? On a lighter note, I will say this. I was never really interested in sitar. sarangi and sarod fascinated me more. That is until i heard Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan. In my eyes, he is every bit the genious of his illustrious father, Ustad Vilayat Khan. His playing is so sweet. If you are a true lover of music, I guarantee you will like anything by Shujaat Khan."
I think it's fairly obvious...

"...that reviewers, "Bashir Adam," and "Andrew Jones," (c'mon can't you come up with a better aka than that?) is the same person, esp. when you click on the names and read their other reviews. One has to question the "frame of mind" of a person who has such an axe to grind with a performer that he will go out of his way to slam all of his albums, not just once, but while pretending to be different reviewers?!"
