This disc is of much less interest than the other selections in Revelation's Shostakovich Plays Shostakovich series. Most of it is taken up with a piano four-hand arrangement of the 10th Symphony, and while it's instructive to hear the two composer-pianists playing, much of the music's impact is lost in the arrangement. If you want pointers on how to conduct the 10th Symphony, don't miss this disc, but otherwise buy a CD of the orchestral version. The brief fillers are amusing, but hardly justify purchase of this disc, which goes onto the shelf for historical curiosities and stays there. --Leslie Gerber
