Synopsis

Album Description
If your idea of hip hop involves spinning on dubs and iced-out medallions, this album isn?t for you. But if you lean more towards conspiracy theories, aliens and the unknown, then listen up. After solo projects by members AWOL One, Circus & Existereo, the entire Shapeshifters crew returns with Was Here, their fourth album (and debut on Cornerstone RAS). With scratches by DJ LA Jae, these seven MCs leave no stone unturned in their lyrical assault on all things holy (and undead). Was Here also features guest MCs Slug (Atmosphere), Busdriver, 2Mex and Pigeon John adding their unique vocal stylings and deliveries to the fold. The Shapeshifters? style is unlike any you have ever heard. This album may forever change the way you look at the world. You have been warned. And, if you already know the Shifters, expect to be blown away by how far they?ve come on this mind-numbing new album.

CD Reviews

Finally organised the madness

"The shapeshifters have always been dope. But to the casual listener it wasn't exactly easy listening.

The shapeshifters finally focused all of the energy of this multi-faceted L.A. graff true hiphop crew and dropped a really really good record.

The lyrics are tight and just spacey whacky enough without going overboard. The beats are great and the new-wave 80s influence is actually pretty refreshing for some usually dark beats.

Ive listened to this over and over since i got it at amoeba. i definitely suggest going out and getting this disc right now. go support your local record store and don't buy it online."
