Synopsis

Album Description
Voice of Endearment by Shahram Nazeri and Kaykhosro Pournazeri is one of the landmark recordings made during the early years following the 1979 revolution in Iran. It is the first and the most successful recording which combines traditional urban Persian music with the spiritual Kurdish Tanbur music of Iran. Shahram Nazeri has devoted his life to the literature and music of Sufism. He began participating in Sufi gatherings at the age of eight, which inspired him to learn to sing the poetic words of the great Persian mystics Rumi and Attar. One of the most popular singers in Iran and a master of the Persian classical, Sufi and Kurdish repertoires, Nazeri has won great critical acclaim for his distinctive style and virtuosity, and has made innumerable highly praised recordings.

CD Reviews

Daf, Tanbur, Vocals

"These three "simple" components converge on this recording to produce a masterwork of classical persian music. Each track fills the air with jangling strings and Nazeri's haunting vocals. If you like Persian Poetry sung well in a traditional way, this is for you. If you are looking for something with more than 2 types of instrumentation, I would look elsewhere. This CD is NOT Gher Gher friendly :)I like it, and listen to it regularly."

"If you are intersted in persian/kurdish music, this CD is a must buy. Shahram Nazeri has one of the best voices in this category. His great voice and the continus Sufi theme in the songs, create a very special recording."
