(5 out of 5 stars)

"What's the loudest instrument in the orchestra, yet also the smallest? You guessed it, the piccolo. Martin Amlin writes great music, and is a gifted pianist; who better to play his own compositions? Dombourian-Eby is a fantastic piccolo player, as well. The flute family, being fairly limited in range (3 octaves) is forced to "circle back around into the octave" to accomplish long harmonic ideas, and Amlin understands this consummately, and exploits it brilliantly. Circling fourths tumble endlessly, in a myriad of color and sound. I love this music, and the sound of the piccolo. It's modern sounding, has a rhythmic, motoric drive which sweeps you up for a "harmonic roller-coaster ride." Try this one out!"
