Synopsis
Product Description SETI is a present Progressive rock outfit from Chile. It is in fact a side-project of the musicians of SUBTERRA, led by the keyboardist-bassist Claudio MOMBERG. Its name is taken from the famous NASA program: Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. This scientific experience in radio-astronomy aims to create contact with possible extra-terrestrial life forms. But let's come back onto our good old planet Earth for a while, just to present "Life Forms" (2005), a first album sounding like a revelation and jointly released by the Musea and Mylodon labels. Long tracks are included, with deliberate slow and atmospheric tempos, in the vein of PINK FLOYD or PULSAR. In three tracks among eight of them, the voice of Jaime SCALPELLO may remind that of Stephen GEYSENS (VISIBLE WIND). Also noteworthy is the 17 minute long suite that concludes this major opus. A true success in the genre ! |
CD ReviewsA Band With Real Life Signs! Russ Bellinger | Bradenton, Florida USA | 03/24/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Seti is a band that is really worth listening to. Quite amazing progressive rock from a band that comes from Chile. You would really never know it by listening, as they sound more like a great prog band from England or Sweden. The musicianship is top-notch, the songs well-crafted, and the vocals sound amazingly like Greg Lake or John Wetton. Lots of synth keyboards that create some really nice atmospheres. The CD reminds me a bit of the K2 project "Book of the Dead" from last year although the guitarist sounds more like Steve Hackett than Allan Holdswoth, and there is no violin, yet they definately have their own sound. I am really looking forward to hearing more from these guys, but meanwhile I am really enjoying listening to this CD! Highly recommended. Nice cover art too!"
