CD Reviews

REAL music
Analog Kid | Midwest, USA | 01/28/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's amazing what you DON'T hear on pop music radio. This is a unique, fun, relaxing, amazing collection of songs by a very talented musician. I heard her interview on NPR and immediately looked it up and downloaded the entire album. If you are SICK of hearing Elton John, Rod Stewart, The Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton played over and over and over on adult contemporary radio this is for you. If you like the overplayed pablum that is most of free radio today.....ugh."
Fantastic and Above the Level of Other Things
Flomo | new jersey | 02/24/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you want to hear amazing musicians, great songwriting and great singing, this is the album. The band does not play in boring typical fashion, but plays in an organic world-music style while still maintaining razor tightness within the wonderful song structures. The only complaint is that some electronic instrument or production technique has added a quiet crackling sound to the mix, not loud enough to disrupt, but it's not a great sound - while EVERYTHING else on the recording is."
Different and Difficult
Soulpatch | New York, NY | 03/02/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I agreed that this is difficult music and that you need to concentrate hard to really enjoy it; that makes it unique. The first time was difficult... only misty 'Kohima' was able to get into my liking.

Try this album for a dose of delicate fusion of intricate sounds, I mean, unpretentious music. Not for the faint-hearted. The number 'More Than the Fingers of My Hands' has some children 'chanting' names, and it will leave you wondering what the heck! 'And then? And then?' is a great song, too.

Yes, Toy sounds like Norah Jones... which is sad."
