CD Reviews

Selena is still the best!!!
Sarah C | CA | 07/18/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This has to be the best Selena compilation I have heard since 1998's Anthology! First of all, the first five tracks alone will make this worth your while. An unreleased demo of a (very) young Selena singing her heart out on "Feelings" starts off the album (There has to be more of these unreleased demos of Selena lying around somewhere-EMI and the Quintanillas should find them all and make a new album with them-that would be a real treat for fans!!!) After Selena sings this gem, we move get "Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti", a song I do not have on any other Selena albums in my collection-this is a beautiful ballad that shows off the emotional power her vocals had. We get remixes of "Tu Solamente Tu" (original recording from the album MIS PRIMERAS GRABACIONES) and "Tu No Sabes" (which I have the original recording of on MIS PRIMEROS EXITOS). These songs are given some fresh production on "Through The Years" and sound like new songs. We then get another gorgeous ballad called "Que" that again I don't have on another Selena CD. From there we move into various songs that appeared on her different studio albums. The good thing is that for the most part they use some of the lesser known hits to fill out this album, with the exception of "No Debes Jugar", "La Llamada", and "Dreaming Of You". (Though those three songs I never get tired of hearing included on a Selena album because they are truly brilliant and timeless!) The album finally closes out with the home recorded demo track "Puede Ser", which really shows you what a big mainstream artist she could have been. Buy this CD-it is better than a lot of Selena compilations I've seen and it is a lot of fun. Selena's music is still great after all these years."
