Mind Altering Stuff!
Oscar Jordan | Los Angeles, CA | 03/29/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I never saw them live, I'm not from New York, and I don't have all the player's names memorized. I'm also not hip to all the interpersonal band and career drama either. All I know is that SHT is all I listen to now. Everything else sounds shallow in comparison. It's the hippest trip for all those eclectics out there (The hipper than thou!) who can appreciate some jazz in their punk, and some black in their rock. Dave Fiuczynski is totally out of the box playing like his hair is on fire without a cliche in sight. Controlled reckless abandon, a psycho-phonic Be-Bop Hendrix death ray, and unadulterated whammy abuse. And all this without the use of octave displacement! I wanna be like him when I grow up.Singer Dean is expressive, creative, and draws from influences every-which-a-way to create something really fresh but still steeped in the great African American traditon of extrapolation, honesty, great story telling, and REALITY. He's the real deal folks. Any guy who can can write such a cool song about basketball legend Darryl Dawkins and pull off a brilliant cover of The Beatles' "Dig a Pony" get's the Medal of Honor in my book. I dig his yodeling too. And when Fuze doubles the yodeling lines it's truly inspired. The rhythm section is oh so glorious. I could go on and on but I can't think of a better phrase than oh so glorious. Ok, groovalishious! The monster is walking with a jazz-hop swagger while Miles and Weather Report check them out. It's just a great over all concept, vision, vibe, statement, and sound for a band. I hope they get back together and come to LA. Count me in. I recommend this disc to any guitar player who thinks he has it going on. Ya' just don't and that goes for Steve Vai too. Back to the woodshed home skillet. I personally will freely borrow as many licks as I can legally get away with. I'll give them back later, but slightly altered.Buy this disc and allow your mind to blossom."
An Absolutely STUNNING Live CD!!!

"I had the good fortune to be at this concert, and I have to say it was one of the best performances I have ever seen. Fuze (guitar) is on fire and Dean (vox) is deep - and the rhythm section cannot be beat. All of the players are some of the best in the biz but this is a real band that tears into these tunes with joy. Hard to believe these guys aren't huge. They remastered this from the Japanese version and I have to say it is much much better sounding now. If you love virtroustic playing AND great pocket, don't miss this cd...!!!"
