Synopsis

Album Description
A genre and gender-defying mix of rock, pop, and dance inspired by burlesque, drag queens, and glam rock, New York?s Scissor Sisters made a big splash in late 2003/early 2004 with their neon-bright re-imagining of Pink Floyd?s "Comfortably Numb," the B-side to the band?s first single "Electrobix." They have topped album charts, selling out concert venues and scoring hit after hit in the UK and much of Europe. They have won praise from the praise from Kylie Minogue, Duran Duran, and Elton John. "Scissor Sisters Remixed!" features the remix versions (including exclusives) by Tiga, and A Touch of Class of the group?s hit songs "Comfortably Numb," "Electrobix," and "Filthy Gorgeous."

CD Reviews

Scissor Sisters Again!
Dogville | Sunny Island | 11/24/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is an EP any Scissor sisters fan should get. Remixes of their hits are found here with entirely different flavors. The ATOC Vs Superbuddha Remix of Filhty Gorgeous and the ATOC Dub Remix of Comfortably Numb lend to the originals and a funkier rock sound that typically brings the house now.

In typical 80's retro/electro-clash style, there is this nice gem called The Skins. Their very first single Electrobix ispresented in its 12" Mix here and the song is a fast-paced edgy electronic song. The Hungry Wives Remix of Electrobix transports you back to the 80's days of Duran Duran/Depeche Mode new waveness with great relish.

There are also extended versions of Filthy Gorgeous and Comfortably Numb on the CD which could have been replaced by more remixes.

Still, this is a great collection of remixes and songs from the band who brought some great life to music in 2004.

Good dance album based on excellent reg issue CD

"Dance albums are always an iffy prospect. Unless the songs were originally released as "dance" versions (as many songs were in the 70's and 80's by a variety of singers and groups still mostly only known by patrons of the former discos) you're really looking at extended versions of songs created solely for the dance market based on their FM or AM market play. Some albums do well in this venue. Some do not.

Scissor Sisters Remixed does well. I'm a huge fan of their music and I think that were this group to have started up twenty years ago they would have been a staple in all the discos during the 80's as well as a hugely popular group on MTV. In concert this group is phenomenal! This Remix album allows some producers to have some fun with SS's already fun music.

If you've already got their original regular issue CD and wish for more, then you'll want to get this album. The songs are still there, remixed and funked up and new waved out in places. I still prefer the original, but I sure enjoy listening to these cuts as well."

"This is just one of those "happy" cds that makes you get really pumped as you listen to it. It really grows on you, and each song is catchy. I have over 1500 CDs in my collection, and I rarely find a CD that I can put on and enjoy it the whole way through. This is definitely one of those cds. I hear they put on a great concert too! I'm seeing them this Sunday! They are the hottest group out right now! I'm so happy I discovered them..."
