"This is an unbelievable recital disc. This is the first official studio recording from margaret price in 1971- a truly very busy year from her. The schubert lieder are sung with impeccable taste and the intonation is glorious. This is an artist with the highest artistist merit where every detail is imprinted in the voice and the delivery is right on the money. The voice is its prime and you can feel your spirit soar as she takes the longest legato. the highlist would have to be 'la pastorella'- simple and yet touching but filled with the greatest of insight. The same could be said of the schumann song cycle. This is truly a wonderous desert island disc that comes as a revelation with every subsequent hearing. She later recorded in 1981 with sawallich and this too is remarkable. Not to be missed."
