CD Reviews

AWESOME. Buy this CD. Support this band!

"Anyone who does not like the Schoolyard Heroes does not like music. Period. This band is Awesome. So awesome in fact, the only thing better than a Schoolyard Heroes CD is a live SYH performance. The songs are catchy, hard, and frankly, they just rock. If you like Tsunami Bomb, you'll like Schoolyard Heroes more. Ryann (lead vocals) has a great voice and Jonah (bassist) goes crazy and is still somehow able to sing and play bass better than most. Definitely buy this CD. There is no way you can be disappointed."
Astonishingly, what a record.

"What can I say that has not already been stated in the reviews before me? I picked this record up on impulse after hearing their acoustic version of "Bury the Tooth of the Hydra and a Skeleton Army Will Arise" which by the way is excellent as well, and I was blown away by what I heard. I don't make many purchases, especially on impulse, but this is definately one of the best buys I have ever made. This is new, this is exciting, this is aggressive, this is sweet, this is provacative, this is just simply amazing. The idea of of mixing the progression of punk rock with science fiction themes with a dab of metal, not to mention a little Opera as lead singer Ryan has quite a range in her voice. I could point out what my favorite tracks are, but why bother? I love them all, simply they all have a warm merit to them and the pace never slows down everytime you spin this record, but it always changes. The last track on the cd is worth the price alone as it's a moving song where each member just hits their mark, Ryan sings her heart out and I'm so glad I made this purchase, be smart. Buy this, buy two so when your first cd burns out on you playing so much, you'll be ahead of the game and have a second copy ready."
Amazing debut

"This debut album, "The Funeral Sciences" from Schoolyard Heroes is nothing short of awesome. Combining aggressive punk, sci-fi, and metal, Schoolyard Heroes are yet another great young band out of Seattle. Ryann, the lead singer, has a truly amazing voice, showing off her range of many of the 12 tracks. Bassist Jonah lends his own voice to most of the songs, which provides a nice contrast.

I am deeply in love with this CD. Standout tracks include "The Mechanical Man vs. The Robot From Outer Limits", "Dawn of the Dead", "Blood-Spattered Sundress", "Attack of the Puppet People", "Contra"...well, they're all just fabulous! The lyrics are pretty dark, which I adore.

Anyway, this CD is incredible, and if you ever get a chance to see Schoolyard Heroes live, GO! It's one heck of an amazing show."
