Othmar Schoeck is Switzerland's great native composer. I think he was a student of Joseph Rhienberger; in any case, Schoeck was a really talented, original composer of art music--especially lieder. This disc of his only string quartets is quite excellent and rare: it's been out for several years now, and I'm surprised that it's still in print: better get it while you can!"
