CD ReviewsDetlef Bensmann Saxophone & Piano Jack Foote | Sacramento, CA | 04/04/2000 (1 out of 5 stars) "The album contains a mix of standard works written in the 20's and 30's and two works written in the 80's for classical saxophone and piano. The literature is somewhat interesting but the performance by Detlef Bensmann would not be a model for any trained saxophonist. Although technically proficient, he has a thin, nasal sound that is overblown much of the time. He has a tendency to rarely play with good intonation and to bend or slide through most of the passages. His musical interpretation of these compositions is given to excess in all respects. With at least five CDs on the market, his father must be the CEO of the Koch label."
