Synopsis

Product Description
Born in 1976, Satoshi Kanazawa has spent his life studying, arranging, performing and composing music. After years of composing and arranging for others, he will release his first debut CD, entitled "Flowing Blue", later this year to showcase his unique style of music. Born in Aomori prefecture in Japan, Kanazawa went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree at Tokyo University of the Arts. From 2007 to 2008, Kanazawa was granted a fellowship to study abroad under the Japanese Government Overseas Study Programme for Artists. And in 2008, he was awarded the grand prize in the composition competition for trombone works hosted by the Japan Association of Trombonists. Kanazawa's music encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres - from tonal music to atonalism, and from serious music to children's music. His works include solo, vocal, chamber and orchestral pieces. Kanazawa has written more than 60 arranged works consisting of a multitude of genres from classical, pop, and jazz music, to children s songs and traditional folk songs. These works have been performed by many ensemble groups and musicians such as the Buzz Five, the String Ensemble from the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, La Quartina, Tokyo Virtuoso, The United Horn Club, Verus String Quartet, trumpeters Jin Ueda and Kazuaki Kikumoto, trombonist Tadaaki Kato, and pianist Midori Nagahara. Additionally, some of his computer-based music has been used by Subaru at The 37th Tokyo Motor Show. His unique and diverse sound earns him acclaim by many classical musicians as a brilliant arranger. In addition to being a well-respected composer and arranger, he is also a versatile artist, often appearing in concerts as a pianist. Most notably he appeared at the 17th Nango Summer Jazz Festival, which took place in Aomori, Japan in 2006, as one of the invitees of local artists. Satoshi Kanazawa has resided in New York City since 2006 and his first solo CD titled Flowing Blue will be released in September 2009 by Mar Creation.
