Perfection: no more, no less

"What happens when one of the most talented singers in jazz is given free rein to choose music and musicians? The result is "Crazy & Mixed Up" by Sarah Vaughn, an album that she produced, which contains eight tracks that will leave you wanting more. A perfect example of the brilliance and perfection of the performances lies in "Seasons", my favorite track, where her beautiful voice is complemented by one of the most amazing piano solos you will ever hear. Simply put, "Crazy & Mixed Up" will automatically become an instant and perennial favorite that will occupy a special place in your collection and your heart."

"Here is my short but sweet scribble on Sassy's amazing 1982 creation...

I own thirteen of her albums/CD's and this one is my all-time favorite. I purchased this CD about a year ago, and upon receiving it (great job Amazon in the quick delivery!) I immediately popped this one into my car stereo system (holds 6 CD's at a time) and there it has stayed ever since.

How do you review something so sublime? This is the Mona Lisa of Jazz Vocalist recordings. How's that for hyperbole! And Joe Pass is along for the ride as well... that's right - JOE "friggin" PASS! Talk about a cat with some chops! But then again, it's all about that VOICE. If I die and make it to heaven (odds are pretty slim; unless God grades on a curve) I sure hope that St. Peter plays this album when I get to those pearly gates.

Many thanks to my Amazon pal Mary Whipple for urging me last year to pick this one up. I owe you one Mary!

6 STARS if they would let me!
