This is a surprizingly wonderful disc. It's premise is to cite the closeness of late Brahms to early Schoenberg: an historical and aesthetic parallel which is true but not widely known.

Highlights include Scheonberg's early piano pieces of 1894 in c#, F, and a; plus, fragments from 1900-06.

The late Brahms pieces are of course great."
