CD Reviews

OK but Volume 1 is better
Joalmon | Hueytown, AL United States | 07/26/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Vol. 2 is OK. Vol. 1 and 2 cover some of the pertinent information for learning other languages. The CD's are also developmentally appropriate in scope and sequence. However, both volumes 1 and 2 could well do without the introduction song on each CD that is basically teaching folks to promote SJ products in 2 languages. Smart marketing move but completely irritating, and I would say inappropriate, to those who just want to get to the business at hand. We've already bought the product, afterall. Volume 1 had a lyric sheet, whereas Volume 2 does not. The diction is really fairly good on both CD's, but I would say not so great that they should have left out the lyric sheet on Volume 2. From an educational standpoint, the more senses are involved, the greater the retention of the concept...so don't take away the visual here. On a side note, for those who are concerned about pitch ranges - some of the songs have a pitch range that is too wide for young children despite having subject matters that are very suited to young children. All-in-all, I would say that for anyone wanting to use songs to help teach foreign language vocabularly, this is a reasonably good resource."
Volume 2 lacks a Lyric Sheet

Cher Messieurs/Mesdames:

I have bought both volume 1 & volume 2 CD's and i agree with the on-line review by Mr./Ms. Joalmon that the first volume is definitely better than the second one! I teach elementary french here in the Philippines and was hoping to use both as supplements or teaching aids. Unfortunately, i forgot to read Mr./Ms. Joalmon's on-line review beforehand and had to kick myself afterwards because as i later found out, unlike Volume 1,Volume 2 had no lyric sheet! Now for me, it's not a real problem as i can understand spoken French, but for you future customers/buyers out there who would like to have both(audio & lyric), I would definitely recommend Volume 1 but would make a hard decision concerning Volume 2.

Bonne Journee et A Bientot...
