The Santana BROTHERS?
El Emjee | London, England | 06/12/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"True fans of Santana must be scratching their heads over this release, and Carlos himself would be surprised to learn that there is a release credited to 'The Santana Brothers' in his catalogue. Mystery solved: this is a European budget release of the 'Brothers' album from Santana, made after the exit from the Columbia label. Ignore the description given above - The 1994 'Brothers' album is here in its correct running order, but on either side there are live selections from the preceding 'Sacred Fire' album, the first to feature Santana brother Jorge. Of course, the packaging makes much of the inclusion of Black Magic Woman, Samba Pa Ti, etc, and the title of this collection is the same as a genuine Best Of release called 'Viva Santana' from Columbia in the 80's. This is a nice enough album from a budget label, and for its intended market in Europe, a great way to pick up the 'Brothers' album for much less than ten dollars. Do you need to pay an import price to do the same? I'll let you answer that."
