Synopsis

Album Description
This CD is a rare case in which you could accurately use the old cliché "You?ve never heard anything like this before." Your ears may try to tell you differently, but believe it or not this live solo CD contains only 100% organic, human sounds. The One Mouth Band?s soaring vocals and earthy groove in Steve Miller?s Fly Like an Eagle or Bill Withers? Use Me are surpassed only by the jaw-dropping instrumental imitations of his McFerrin-inspired theme song, One Mouth Band. The infectiously rhythmic, full-body percussion of Sting?s poignant Walking in Your Footsteps and One Mouth Band originals Another Dollar or I Can?t Love You for Much Longer will leave you humming and tapping long after the music ends. On the other end of his musical spectrum, the One Mouth Band?s vocal acrobatics on Autumn Leaves, startlingly playful version of Till There Was You, classic West Coast Jazz approach to Angel Eyes, and stunning rendition of Moody?s Mood for Love remain accessible and enjoyable to a surprisingly wide range of listeners. The freedom and musicality of the album?s two completely improvised tracks are nothing less than impressive. This is the first album by Sam Rogers (a.k.a. The One Mouth Band), a solo a cappella musician who is sure to grab -- and hold onto -- your attention.

CD Reviews

I Didn't Know The Human Voice Could Do That!
Robert F. Hink | El Cerrito, CA USA | 08/24/2002

"I've heard a cappella artists before, but Sam Rogers definitely pushes the envelope with his "One Mouth Band" album. He does vocal percussion like I've never heard before. At times I could imagine I was listening to several musicians playing together. Truly a tour de force performance."
Who needs instruments when you've got this guy?!

"I got the CD as a present from a friend, and really liked it! I was surprised, impressed and entertained over and over again. If you're a fan of vocal percussion, or are tired of all the sound-alike music out there and just want to hear something different, this is a GREAT CD for you. Highly Reccomend!"
