CD Reviews

Salyu, this time around, is too peppy.
Davin K. Kubota | Honolulu, HI USA | 06/06/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I generally adore Salyu, ever since hearing her voice in Lily Chou Chou no Subete (film). However, I generally adore her slower works and the minimalist approach: just her lovely voice and a piano would suffice. This CD is good, but seems over-produced: lots of drums, lots of riffs, lots of homage-sounding elements (Beatles, emo-bands), etc. I could completely be happy with an a cappella or piano version of this CD."
Great Artist... Good Enough Album
J. Garcia | Corona, CA USA | 01/31/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Salyu along with her producer Takeshi Kobayashi really are some of the best things in music right now. Though I think both of them to be along the musical genius lines, I can't say this is their best work. Though tracks such as Be There, Name, and Yue Ni(track 5) are exceedingly brilliant, much of the record just seems to want to conform to the modern J-Pop-Rock taste, as opposed from coming strickly from the heart as Salyu's first two Lps seem to show. If you love Salyu, well you are gonna want to get this, you're still gonna get a lot out of it but the definitive albums are still Landmark and her Lily Chou-Chou project Kokyuu which are both masterpieces."
