Synopsis

Album Description

Evocative music and traditional chants evoke the powerful mystery of the Great Serpent Mound, the first century BC, quarter-mile long Native American animal effigy in southern Ohio. Piano, keyboard, Lakota flute, ocarina and exotic hand percussion subtle blend with on-site environmental recordings. Chants by Jaccarilla Apache Matthew Andrae honor this oldest and largest surviving raised-earth mound in North America.

"The artist describes sitting at the Serpent Mound and letting the sacred sight give him sounds and rythms, the result feels to me true to the enery of the place. Each selection seems drawn from deep sources. It is musically and rythmically rich using drums, rattles, flute, keyboards, voice and natural sounds. Good for meditation and journeying.If you like new age music with a Native sound, you'll enjoy this recording."
