Ackerman | Ashburn, VA (USA) | 02/03/2009 (2 out of 5 stars) "I was not expecting any masterpieces here, but even if the music is not first class and lacks that wonderful Spanish color (the symphony sounds anonymously French) my main dissapointment seems to be the recording venue. The recording is so dry it makes the orchestra sound truly provincial. Whether the orchestra is as "raw" and amateurish as it sounds, I do not know, but all that makes the journey long and dissapointing.
Naxos has done wonders with the sound of their recordings in the past (including some in the 'Spanish Classics') but this Rehearsal Hall of the Comunidad the Madrid does not seem to be helping." |
