CD Reviews

A Great Ruki VVerkh CD!

"This CD is great! Although some may argue, with some reason, that "Bez Tomorozov" is better, I still think this CD is awesome. "Ay-yay-yay" is a hilarious song, and probably my favorite song is "Zdrastvuj Eto Ya" because its really a great song, (although I prefer "kroshka moya" to that). I think comparing them to nsync is really bad, because Ruki Vverkh is so much better. Ranging from dance-techno to just normal pop, their music can be quite varied, although they maintain a certain style. Track ten even sounds somewhat "Beck-ish" at moments. In the end, I would recommend this CD to anyone. I would recomend all of their CD's to everyone. If you already know them, you'll like it. If you don't know them, buy it (because the others can be hard to find) and you'll get addicted to it. You don't even need to speak Russian to appreciate it!"
Like everything else Russian...

"...different, in such a well, Russian way! Let me start off by saying that while I don't own this CD, I've heard a few songs. Really, any song by Ruki Vverx you hear basically sums them up: a fast techno beat with cheesy synths (a la Alice Deejay) and lyrical fodder consisting primarily of musings on "devotchki" (girls, for those of you not Russky-inclined). Their best album, as far as I'm concerned, is "Bez Tomorozov" which came out last summer (1999). They had a huge hit with "Nu Gdye Zhe Vui Devchonki?" (Where are all my girls?), and everywhere you went in Russia, this song was blaring. It's great, fun music, if you don't mind a little cheese. The previous reviewer compared them with *NSYNC, but the styles are totally different (Ruki's sound is more like the Vengaboys or Alice Deejay). Ruki Vverx is like *NSYNC only in the fact that they are both "boy bands" who churn out hits not written by the members. Russia has quite a few of these boy bands now...if you like Ruki Vverx, check out Andrei Gubin. It's much in the same vein."
