"Guitarist Ronnie Earl, formerly with the hardest working blues band, Roomful of Blues, is joined on this CD with former Roomful of Blues vocalist and Harmonica player Sugar Ray Norcia and former Fabulous Thunderbirds vocalist and harmonica player Kim Wilson.The combination of Earl's smooth guitar and the vocals and harmonica playing of these individuals makes for 17 smokin, good-time blues tracks. Earl shows that he is truly a standout guitarist and while this CD may be 12 years old, the music is timeless. Buy it and listen. Not only will you be impressed, but chances are you will also go out in search of other Earl releases."

"The songs collected here on this compilation "Deep Blues" were recorded February & August 1982 at Brighton, Massachusetts and serve as Ronnie Earls debut session.Originally the tracks were from two early L.P. titles called "Smokin" & "They Call me Mr. Earl"

The guitar work is stunning especially on "Baby Doll Blues" ..six minutes of blues guitar in a Magic Sam mode . The vocals are handled wonderfully by Sugar Ray Norcia & Kim Wilson. Added musicians include Dave Maxwell/piano, Greg Piccolo/tenor sax,Kim Wilson/vocals, harmonica.

"i am trying to find out if my doctor can attach another arm or two to me so i can give this cd 3 or possibly 4 thumbs up! ronnie can blister the strings when he needs to, bend them when he wants to, and make them weep the blues. fantastic musicians join him making it even better. mixing in outstanding intrumental tracks - ronnie johnnie, san ho zay smoking, narcolepsy - showcases ronnie's incredible talent. this one is not any of ronnie's jazz/blues fusion - which is also quite good - this one is pure blues. check out a true master performing his craft."
