Synopsis

Album Description
2007 UK two CD set featuring 2 original albums and a host of bonus tracks available as one set for the first time. Re mastered with new added liner notes. Formed in San Francisco in 1979 and fronted by Debora Iyall, Romeo Void recorded three albums for Frisco Indie 415 Records after being brought to the label?s attention by Rick Ocasek of The Cars. Benefactor, the band?s second release in 1982, was followed by the slicker 1984 set Instincts produced by David Kahne (who would go on to produce The Bangles). Benefactor includes the hit 'Never Say Never'. Instincts features the hit 'A Girl In Trouble Is A Temporary Thing'. Acadia.

Two Classic Albums Together - A Must Have Double-CD!
Craig S. Cherry | Kansas | 10/18/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard "Instincts" album in 1984, when a fellow college intern played it for me. I was really into the band back then, but pretty much forgot about them in the 90's. Then I discovered this double-album reissue on Amazon, and figured I'd pick it up for old time's sake.

I must say, this music has aged remarkably well. Romeo Void had exceptional musicians, and every song on "Instincts" is better than most of the fluff being churned out by generic pop bands today. Deborah's vocals are truly unique and very powerful in their raw expressiveness. "Never Say Never" still manages to be rather shocking, mostly because Deborah is such a great singer.

The band is equally superb, with the sax player adding basically another lead voice to the proceedings. There's a wide range of styles, particularly on Instincts, which includes the minor radio hit "A Girl in Trouble is a Temporary Thing." Both this and the "Benefactor" album are included in this 2 CD set. They even included both the "clean" and regular versions of "Never Say Never", so this a very complete package.

This is a great CD set from an under-rated band. Pick it up while it's still available!"
