"Long heralded as the hottest club band in the southeast, Rollin' in the Hay concentrates on song-writing with this self-titled disc. "Hay" combines the high energy performance that has kept the college town hippies dancing the past 5 or 6 years with memorable melodies that will have you singing in the shower. The toungue-in-cheek lines of "Alabam" and "I'm Drinkin' Whiskey Again" paint images of Saturday afternoon barbeques with your old drinkin' buddies, while the John Denveresque feel of "It's You Girl" and "Carolina" help you remember why you love music so much. "Ole" Rick Carter leads this southern trio with his raw brand of story telling, found in "Caleb Hall" and the concert fav "Jerry and J.B.". Combined with the lightnin' fast pickin' of Barry Waldrep and the deep bottom bass and of Stan Foster, "Hay" becomes the bands definitive release. This collection is a must-have for bluegrass afficionados, but as the "Hay" have proven from their club following, any one with a taste for the unique will find them interesting."
