What a find!

"I just happened to be browsing around for music looking for nothing in particular when I haphazardly stumbled across this cd. With having heard no previous mentionings of this cd's release, I was excited to know that the Troutman family music legend lives on. I once heard on my local radio station, Roger, Roger II's dad, mention that his son was more musically versatile than he. Imagine that. Well folks, imagine no more. This album starts out on very firm grounds with "Beautiful lady", and features legendary guest artist Charlie Wilson. "When we kick it" reminds me of a kinda streetwise seductive love play that you see in the movies. Another smooth track, and my favorite on this cd is "Give it to you". Had he released this cd on a major lable, this song would have scored major points in the music industry, I'm sure. "Come with me" is a very sensual, and romantically potent tune in which Roger II incorporates the use of the vocoder, and his own voice, simultaneously. Brilliantly done! "Can U deal with this" is a youthful groove that integrates the sounds of today with the vocoder, but he didn't do much with it. It's a little more than an instrumental and a repetative chorus. There are no real lyrics in this song. Anyone who loves producer Timberland could easly fall into this groove. But, with no lyrics, it's commercial value is diminished. Still a good groove though. Roger II redid two of his father and uncles's songs. Roger II leaves "Dance floor" virtually untouched. It's forshortened a bit, and the add-libs are of his own style. A smart move considering fans of the family group "Zapp" would probably be following him. However, his rendition of his dad's "So ruff so tuff" sounds rather empty and incomplete. This album has it's ups and downs, but it has enough up's to warrant your patronage. Especially if you are already a fan of his father and uncles - the Late Roger Troutman and the group Zapp. I'm glad I have this cd, and I hope to see Roger II continue to record; perhaps even for a major label. Roger, I'm sure your late father, Roger Sr., and Your late uncle Larry, as with the rest of your living family, are proud of you."

"Okay this album will always be in my cd player every single day. Roger Troutman will always be remembered threw his son's music. What can I say, this album is so cool and I'm glad I own it. I was a little worried at first because I didn't think I would like the second coming. Boy, was I wrong. From Beautiful lady, to Right now, to Can you deal with this. This album will want you to press repeat on your cd player and just let it play. I'm glad Charlie Wilson made an appearance on this album. I'm just sorry that Dj's aren't spinning this album yet. I wish they would though, because it might help him get discovered and maybe Zapp might pick him up and let him record with them. I am really glad that he remembered his dad with We love you Roger. That song made me cry the first time I heard it. He will always live on in our hearts. Roger Troutman, R.I.P.Duyahn Walker"

"Roger Troutman II came onto the scene in 2000 with his debut CD titled "Second Coming". This CD did not really make a lot of noise because of a lot of r&b/hip hop were really beginning to start to get caught up in the mainstream while this anticpated CD was up on billboards across St. Louis at the time. The first track a great song called "Beautiful Lady" with the Gap Band lead singer Charlie Wilson adding the vocals as Roger II laces up the vocoder which brings back so many memories of his daddy. The next song "I Wanna Take You Home" is a more up-tempo track with my homie Big Lurch from the Cosmic Slop Shop crew adding his lyrics. To me the CD from tracks 3-5 took a lot to grow on but it is still above average. Tracks 6-8 are very good especially track 8 with an unknown singer Brent Luv that gives his vocals on "Being Alone". Track 9 "We Love You Roger" with the great songstress Jewel who I think can really go and did not get a chance to showcase her skills after the descension of Death Row at that time. Then we go to the tracks I really brings back the memories with the freakin' ATL(Above The Law) adding the additional production to the classics "So Ruff, So Tuff, & my favorite song and remake "Dance Floor" where Roger II just gets busy on the vocoder on both tracks while on "Dance Floor" Big Hutch & Cold 187 rips it up representing Pomona, CA to the fullest. The next and last track is "Can U Deal With This" in which this is an instrumental not the original with I believe Big Lurch, C-Bo, & others(correct me if I am wrong) but still good to roll around in. Overall, this is an above average CD if you still love some funk with "So Ruff, So Tuff" & "Dance Floor" and I mean some gangsta funk. From news I heard of Roger II's passing really shocked me when I found out about it. I tell you I hope someone like DJ Quik could just do a CD with nothing but the talkbox(vocoder), it is still a great instrument that has really faded away due to this crazy movie & tv show samples and wack board play. RIP Roger Troutman & Roger Troutman II."
