Synopsis

Album Description
Born in 1954 of a musical family, Robin Ireland studied music at Cambridge University and in America. Best known as violist of the Lindsay String Quartet (later known as The Lindsays) for 20 years until their recent disbanding, Robin Ireland also founded the well-known chamber ensemble Domus. Ireland composed his first piece in 1987 and composing now occupies most of his time, along with teaching in the music department of Manchester University. Violinist Susanne Stanzeleit?s many commercial recordings have attracted rave reviews worldwide and she has shared the concert platform with many eminent musicians. She is known for performing unusually challenging and extensive repertoire. Violist Louise Williams began her career as a violinist as a founder member of the Endellion Quartet, later moving to the Chilingirian Quartet. After a break to start a family, Williams has continued to play with various ensembles as guest artist.
