My favorite word is Hmmmmmm | 09/13/2008

"By the way, the website listing of the name of the CD is misleading. It INCLUDES the mysteries of light (which earlier recordings did not), but it also includes the other mysteries. It is "The Complete Rosary".

I've listened to many recordings of the rosary and have listed three pleasant things that stand out in regard to this one:

The background music during the prayers is actually IN THE BACKGROUND. Wow! I have been annoyed many times with "background music" dominating, drowning out the dialogue or lyrics. So often on TV shows, movies, and CDs, I wish I could selectively increase the volume of the dialogue or turn down the background music. Although doing so is not possible with this recording either, it's also not necessary. This is such a refreshing change that I can even smile at the sometimes careless pronunciation: "Hell, Mary...." and "Give us this day our deli bread...." :~)

The second feature I like -- and this is just a personal preference -- is that the "call and response" form is not used. Rather, Mr. Kochis and (the woman whose name I don't remember) take alternate turns with entire prayers, one voice at a time.

Another nice feature of this version which surprisingly is not universally utilized is that the opening prayers (Apostle's Creed, Our Father, 3 Hale Mary's) are repeated for all four sets of mysteries, so if you want to pray just 5 decades rather than 20, you don't have to fumble around to get from the opening prayers to the day's decades."

A Must Have CD to Pray the Rosary

"I'm a non-catholic and recently taught myself to pray the Rosary. The CD is absolutely magnificent. Robert Kochis and Helena Buscema alternate reciting the msyteries. Each mystery is followed by song. A must for those who can use a little assistance to pray the Rosary. I've prayed daily while using the CD. Excellent for car use as well. Perfect for guided meditation. While the CD contains the Mysteries of Light versus the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries, I still find it an excellent purchase."

And, of course, the Blessed Mother interceded for me and helped to get things back on track. If we could re-direct all of our negative energies on prayer, life would be instantly improved."
