"As far as I know, Robert John had only two hits: a remake of the old classic The Lion Sleeps Tonight in 1972 and the moving Sad Eyes in 1978, but what ageless classics they are! This album also includes a great dance mix of Lion, while his interpretation of Hey There Lonely Girl is graceful and songs like Lonely Eyes and Only Time are likewise soulful and engaging. His distinctive high tenor voice is what sets him apart, and the choice of material is excellent. It-s a pity that such a talented singer weren't more prolific. This album is worth owning on the strength of Sad Eyes and the two versions of Lion (Wimoweh) alone."

"I only have vague memories of Robert John and purchased the album for "The Lion Sleeps To-Night".There are two versions one a so-called "dance re-mix" and both hold up well to the Tokens "original" version.The rest of the album is well worth listening to and the vocals are good. Light but enjoyable."
