Synopsis

Album Description
Light (Track 1) With just enough urban edge to make you want to pump the bass, this upbeat groove will appeal to a generation who cut its teeth on street-wise R & B. Hannah's Song (Track 3) This deeply affecting love song, from a vulnerable soul laid bare before its adored master is, at once, anguished and joyous. As it reaches its pained climax, you may easily find yourself reduced to tears by its compelling honesty and trembling humanity, bowed low before an awesome yet benevolent Creator. Lamb of God (Track 12) Austere, yet ultimately magnificent, this musical offering, tender and tenuous at the start, develops into a powerful anthem of adoration and praise to the slain Savior and His impossible passion for the sin-sick soul. 80's Medley (Track 5) Dusting off some neglected treasures from the 1980s, this 5-song medley takes its listeners down a pleasant path of fond remembrance. Morning Light (Track 13) The capstone of Mercer's debut album, "Morning Light" is a sweet affirmation that, despite the heartbreaks and trials of life, joy eventually comes to those who persevere. Trenace Richardson employs her soulful instrument in drawing out the potential of this lovely work, bringing the entire project to a conclusion that is satisfying, serene, and wistful.

CD Reviews

Can't wait for his second CD

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This rich and varied recording would be a credit to any long-established artist, making its status as Mercer's debut release, all the more impressive. The album shines from its bumpin' first track, all the way to the prayerful and sweet finale. In between is a beautiful body of wide-ranging, soul-felt works, featuring some terrific new singers and musicians. And how refreshing to hear lyrics that break away from the so-often-cliched rhetoric of the genre. At certain points, I could only weep--so heartfelt and real is this material.Great album! Can't wait for the next one."
