Partial to Rismsky-Korsakov - a great recording

"These are two of Rimsky-Korsakov's finest and well-known works, both on one great CD. I have listened to this rendition quite a lot at this point and the sound quality is excellent -- it's a fine recording. And do not be put off by a conductor who is not yet a household name (but I think he soon will be!). Jordan leads this fine orchestra through a nice, tight, appropriately-rendered version of both pieces. This CD ties with the best version of Sheherezade that I have (of 6 different versions). Finally, the price is a steal.



This is an excellent CD for both those new to classical music (because it is very melodic) and, to venerable veterans of the genre, (to grab a great rendition of two old favorites). These two pieces are quite basic to any casual or serious fan of classical music.



Finally, I consider this CD to be a major asset in my large collection. My expectations were certainly exceeded with this one -- I highly recommend it!"
