"I had the priveledge to see Richard Clapton perform last night (23/2)at the Basement in Sydney Aust. It was the first broadcast over the web via thebasement.com.au website. Richard Clapton is a true songwriter. He manages to capture a time, place and feeling in his lyrics. His music paints vivid colours to compliment the imagery of his lyrics. As a young man about 15 years ago I moved to Sydney fom the country. My sister said listen to this tape and enjoy. The music from the Great Escape became the soundtrack to that part of life for me. Songs that set the scene then, like Don't Waste Time, still ring true today. The sign of a great song is how well it stands the test of time. Hearing some songs last night reinforced how well they stood that test. I can't wait to get my hands on this CD after wearing out my tape some time ago. Richard Clapton is a great songwirter and excellent on stage. His band last night really cooked. The real joy was the interaction with us the audience. They had fun and so did we. The songs on the Great Escape have one truly magical quality. The whole album works so well together. There are no fillers on this CD. That's why when you listen to it, it truly does offer you a Great Escape. Enjoy!"
