"This was the only full-length album released by Peter Hook's band Revenge, which he hastily put together in late 1989/early 1990 while New Order was on hiatus. Although I like the album quite a bit, One True Passion does have its drawbacks. First and foremost for New Order fans, Peter Hook's strong and distinctive basslines are not at the forefront here. They sit deep in the mix, buried under guitar lines, drum sequencing, and excess synthesizer work. Peter Hook laid the production on thick, and although it can be interesting in places, in others it's just tedious.



In spite of these faults though, One True Passion is still fun to listen to. In places it's loud and bombastic (Kiss the Chrome, Slave, Bleachman), and in others it's toned down and thoughtful (It's Quiet). Revenge followed this up shortly after with the Gun World Porn EP. In 2004 however, a new, reworked version of One True Passion was released: One True Passion 2.0. The new album has 32 tracks total, and is obviously quite different.
