Neil Down. Certainly, this is an album of contrasts, a collection of music that dares not be pidgeon-holed into one simple genre. "American Friend," is cool country, blues at it's best, good ole' fashioned rock-n-roll, folk, and as alternative as SunVolt, Wilco, or Blue Mountain. What American Friend can easily be described as is a collection of sincere lyrics being arfully applied to hard-earned, blue-collar music. This cd never makes it back to it's holder in my house. It jams during parties when folks want to dance, and plays artfully in the corner when I read or do computer work."
