A Tremendous Performance of This Work 04/22/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Origianlly released on vinyl on the Angel label, I am delighted to find it re-released on CD. The soloists ( Schwarzkopf, Ludwig, Gedda and the chilling voice of bass Nicolai Ghiaurov) are a tremendous complement to the conducting of Carlo Maria Giulini, who was praised in the 1964 liner notes: "Since Toscanini's death there has been no finer interpreter of Verdi's music." The "Offertorio" alone is well worth the price of admision to this classic recording."
