CD Reviews

The title says it all

"ms. rosnes is a fine pianist who seems to be overshadowed at the moment by players such as brad meldhau or jacky terrasson. this is unfortunate because she is gifted and plays with style that avoids some of the meandering of mr. meldhau and the identity crisis that seems to plague mr. terrasson. this album is titled "art and soul" and that is exactly what is presented. ms. rosnes alternates between hard bop explorations ("blues connotations")and soulful blues ("with a little help from my friends")that keeps your attention fixed and your fingers popping. the entire set swings hard and her approach, while complex, is not off-putting in any way. it's just fun, period. enjoy!"

"With the hysteria that greets every Brad Mehldau move, we do not hear as much about Renee as we should! I was lucky enough to see her in Dublin and was blown away. Highly recommended! PS Renee, please hurry back to Dublin."

"FROM LISTENING TO GEORGE SHEARING IN THE FIFTIES, TO THE
PRESENT, I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HEAR SOME GREAT PIANO.
RENEE ROSNES IS ONE OF THE BEST!
THE WAY SHE DOES "A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS" IS A
MASTERPIECE. SOLEMN BECOMES HOPEFUL BECOMES A JOYFUL
ROMP- SHE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED IT FOR THE TWIN TOWER DISASTER
CELEBRITY BENEFIT. JAZZ DESERVES TO HAVE MORE OF A PRESENCE
IN OUR LIVES; WHAT BETTER WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS THAN TO HAVE
HER PLAY!"
