Remembering Never - God Save Us All

"If you think the songs on this CD all sound the same, you probably haven't taken enough time to actually listen to it. I enjoyed this CD to the very last song. Everything before "Women and Children..." is a complete waste. I would recommend buying this CD as well as "Women and Children..." Both probably the best CD's this band has completed so far.

Recommended tracks for new listeners:

Slaughterhouse Blues.

Gangsta Rap and Peppermint Schnapps.

The Goddamn Busy Signal.

Highlighted track:

Another pleasant surprise

"Several albums have come out this year (i.e. Bleeding Through, Sworn Enemy, etc.) which I wasn't expecting much from, and then they surprised me by turning out to be quite great. Thus is the case with Remembering Never's "God Save Us." I thought their last album, "Women And Children Die First" was pretty good, but not great; and even though "God Save Us" still isn't flawless, it shows that Remembering Never are improving as a band.

These songs are very raw and energetic, so what they lack in originality they make up for with intensity and sheer heaviness. Kind of like a cross between Chimaira and Hatebreed, this album couldn't be more full of scorching riffs, raw-throated vocals, and breakdowns. And, despite having the occasional spot of clean singing (i.e. "Off Key And Outta Line") and slow tempo change (i.e. "Suicide Hotline On Speed Dial"), these songs are relentless.

Songs like "Con Artist" and "Runner Up In A Sh - t-Eating Contest" are pounding maelstroms of blowtorch guitars and drums. "Slaughterhouse Blues," "White Devil,"and "Judas Will Swing" all sport big grooves with fiery, churning riffs and walloping drums, while vocalist Pete spills his guts out, bellowing lyrics like "murder is a family value." The last standout track on here is "The Godd-mn Busy Signal," which has a very "math-y" beat and several tempo changes.

Most of the tracks on here tend to blend in with each other (since none of these songs have anything like melody or a guitar solo). Regardless, "God Save Us" is in the running for the best hardcore/metalcore album so far of 2006, and it makes for some quite enjoyable listening sessions."
