Synopsis

Product Description
And I Remain shows the joys and sorrows of love expressed in the three great art song traditions of the seventeenth century. This debut album from soprano Linda Tsatsanis and lutenist John Lenti gives a prismatic portrait of the chambers of the human heart. Elegant French court airs de cour, charming Elizabethan songs and passionate Italian monody tell the eternal story of love and loss. Soprano Linda Tsatsanis has been hailed as 'ravishing' (New York Times) for her performance at the Boston Early Music Festival and blessed with 'crystalline purity' (Seattle Times). John Lenti has appeared as a solo recitalist and chamber musician on lute, theorbo and guitar throughout the United States.

CD Reviews

Soothing music

"As a commercial airline pilot who spends too much time in the back of the airplane commuting to and from work, I really enjoyed Linda and John's selection of music. Great way to wind down and relax during my lenghty commutes to and from work."
Striking beauty

""And I Remain" is a gorgeous mix of lute songs and solo lute works by two people who've gained a HUGE reputation in Seattle over the last couple of years for their live concerts. Linda Tsatsanis is early music's next great soprano, and John Lenti is as tasteful and articulate a lutenist as you'd ever hope to find.

The three nations/languages/temperaments presents in this collection give a wonderful range to the performance, and shift the mood just enough to give it both unity and a dramatic arc.

Tsatsanis's voice is miraculous, immediately appealing and still magnetic over repeated listenings. She somehow manages to create power and expression in these dramatic songs without overpowering the soft-voiced beauty of the lute and theorbo.

Those of us in Seattle who've been able to follow their concert appearances over the last couple of years are overjoyed and relieved that they've heeded our demands and finally made a record. Now everyone with a CD player can hear what we've been raving about.

Big props to the recording engineer and technical staff with Origin Classical records for doing such a world-class job on the sound, the look, the whole production.
