CD Reviews

Classic folk duo from CA, WA - beautiful harmonies, songs
Ray George | Sonoma, CA | 12/03/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first saw and heard Reilly & Maloney in Chuck's Cellar in the mid-seventies on the peninsula, south of San Francisco. They had the perfect male-female duo sound, two great voices that blended as one, pitch perfect, and were fun to be with as well! I must have seen them 20 times over the years, before they disbanded and went their separate ways. Many years later, I saw that they were playing at a local venue, the Blue Heron restaurant in Duncan Mills, Sonoma County, and it was like old times all over again. Even though they've aged, (haven't we all?) the sound was as good or better than I remembered, and all the magic was still there. They are playing here and there, and if you ever get a chance to see them, I highly recommend it. They are one of the best folk duos to ever grace a stage, and they should have gotten much greater recognition than they've received over the years. Beautiful and beautifully crafted songs and lyrics, the sweetest harmonies, Ginny's nearly ethereal voice, David's perfect tenor, you have to hear them to believe it. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for them!"

"Prior to spending $49.99 + for this one (1) CD "used!" it would be nice to view a track list (songs!) of the compilation as I once owned and loved all of their LPs. Why is this not listed ????????"
A great compilation
M. Linford | Seattle | 09/26/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A great compilation...while not including some of my favorites, this CD does have some of their best, most memorable songs. Everyday; Mrs. Steeles song; Old Hayes; Seattle afternoon; 3 a.m.; I don't know why; Bewitched, bothered and bewildered; Chestnut tree; Dancing in the Dark; Palo Alto Cowboy; Mendecino (my favorite); Billy & Slugger; Pioneer Square; Bramble and the Rose; Did Beethoven Do the Dishes; Thats the way that the world goes round; River; the I ain't gettin' it blues; and Delicate Balance. This singer songwriter duo has wonderful harmony, and a mix of funny, sad and catchy sing-along tunes. I discovered them first at Folklife Festival in Seattle and have followed their music ever since. Too bad their vinyl isn't all on CD."
