CD Reviews

As good as I've heard
04/22/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'd heard so much about Reid Genauer being an amazing songwriter - and everything that I'd heard was right! From start to finish this album is a gem. It covers all styles of music, from the rocking "Burned Down" to the ballad "Serenade Serine" to the funky "Love Junkie". Genauer's band perfectly supports his mighty voice and powerful lyrics with some great guitar and keyboard solos and just overall solid playing."
From Strangefolk To Assembley

"I have been a huge strangefolk fan ever since I was traveling through Vermont one year on my way to The Lemon wheel (The Big phish show In Main that year) when someone told me: Hey man" You should go check the Garden Of Eden Fest (Strangefolks Big Show) while on your way to see Phish:

And sure enough I had a Blast!! And when Reid left strangefolk to form this new band I was heart broken, And I thought to myself that I would never hear music like that again...But I was wrong! And this album has got me dancing again! So check to out everyone! And don't forget to get out and see the band do there thing Live! :)"
Comes up a little short

"on the outset let me say that reid genauer is perhaps one of the greatest songwriters i have ever heard. being an avid fan of strangefolk while reid was in the band and also the amazing percy hill, which features the amazing nate wilson and jon lecesse (who are also featured on this album), i was quick to pick up the new offering from reid. it features a few tunes from the old strangefolk catalogue as well as a few new ones. being a huge strangefolk fan it was a little tough to swallow the versions of some of my favorite songs but reid and the new band do them justice. the best is probably "songs we sing" which features some great soulful back up singing. the album as a whole feels a little over produced and seems to lack that gritty edge that strangefolk had or that reid and the assembly of dust have in their live performances. the album is defintely worth a listen but it my mind it comes up short...probably because of my own high expectations of reid genauer."
