"impressive recording and performances of what i think are some highly original works. she seems to have found a definitive voice for herself sythesizing folk influences, a beautiful harmonic vocabulary, and a gift for orchestration from diverse instrumentation (from full orchestra to two sopranos with timpani). it seems to me that Rehnqvist has a gift for conveying the power of the female voice--perhaps through the metaphor of the "herding calls" she quotes--and on this album the singers seem to generate the unique soundscape as if by invocation. i heard "puksanger-lockrup" on bbc3 one afternoon and it stuck in my head for at least a year before i found this recording."
