CD Reviews

THIS iS A GREAT REVIEW
Stephen M. Amy | Portland, OR United States | 12/06/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"...for a GREAT album.track #1) "Boards"- way *creepy* Anton LaVay-styled sci-fi-styled doom harbinger, or maybe it is the psychic sound of haplodiplodic procreation? Whatever, it bodes not human...track #2) "Water Pour"- laconically-plucked strings as counterpoint to the sound of mice ravaging carrion. And someone's trying to pour water on the mice but is too stoned to drown them! You can hear the mice protest.tracks #3-38) "Thirty-five one-second pieces"- very hilarry sound juxtapositions. It takes 35 of them to tell the whole joke.track #39) "Organ Buildup"- Heraldic of the rest of the albumtrack #40) "Vocal"- flute musings awaken the groaing hominid. The person arises, at last, but is none too happy to face the day. Gregorian chanting briefly injected, so as to help our hero cope.track #41) "Free Guitar"- Fly, be free, guitar! We always knew you could. Sounds like your flying over the Middle East.track #42) "One Minute Imposition"- Stock market ticker (remember those?) goes in time to strange parade-dirge.track #43) "Piano"- Are you sure Sun Ra wasn't in this band? Did Charles Ives write this?track #44) "Guitar"- a fine coda to an expert album. And all I have to say, beyond that, is that I wish the John Fahey/Red Crayola tapes had not been lost!"
