A very good selection of familiar songs rendered in the old Ray Conniff tradition. Great to have in thebackground when you are doing chores.

A very good compilation but...

"The folks at Sony Music did a reasonable job putting together this 16 track compilation. It is a bit disappointing that more than half the songs came from the two "16 Most Requested Songs" CDs: Somewhere My Love, The Way You Look Tonight, A Time For Us, Just The Way You Are, Speak Softly Love, Memories Are Made Of This, This Is My Song, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing, You Light Up My Life, and Where Do I Begin (Love Story).Very few Conniff Lps from the 1970s have been reissued on CD. It is a shame the producers did not dig a bit deeper and give us something new to listen to. The vocal version of Memories Are Made Of This (from the Lp SEND IN THE CLOWNS) would have made a nice substitute for the instrumental version that has appeared on dozens of CDs already.Other songs, such as A Time For Us, Just The Way You Are, and You Light Up My Life are generally NOT songs associated with Ray Conniff. Why does Sony keep putting them on compilations? There are much better recordings in the vault. There is a gem to be found: for the first time the STEREO version of Je T'Aime... Moi Non Plus (Love At First Sight) has been released on CD. While the mono version is fairly common, the stereo release used to be a rare collector's item.Overall, not a bad compilation but Sony could sell a lot more if they would just dig a bit deeper and not reissue the same songs over and over."
Frankly, a good buy!

"While some buyers are not particularly impressed by the selections of songs for this release, I have found it to be an excellent addition to the collection - especially the part of the collection I find in the CD player in my car. It's a different mix, a good variety of Ray's music over several decades, and there's just some lovely stuff to be played. For example, the highly-danceable "It Had to Be You" is "driver's music," Ray's greatest seller of all time, "Somewhere My love" is there to be enjoyed, and the sound-transitional "Speak Softly Love" (or the "Theme from The Godfather") is almost as good as Conniff gets. Really, there are may selections here that are just excellent, and well-represent Ray's musical gifts to his fans."
