The Genius Of Ray Charles is an album that lives up to its title having been a major star of the R&B world for the previous five years, Ray was keen to expand his musical horizons. Together with producers Jerry Wexler and Nesuhi Ertegun, members of the Count Basie and Duke Ellington band and arranger Quincy Jones, Ray came up with an album unlike any he had previously recorded. Come Rain Or Shine, a number more closely associated with Frank Sinatra, was just one of the many standout tracks, but the album in its entirety is something of a marvel.
