CD Reviews

Wonderfully warm and moving.

"The Sequoia String Quartet's performance of the the Ravel Quartet is wonderfully warm and moving. You'll want to pick up a copy for your collection!"
Ravel & Bartok: Masterful combination, masterfully played.
Charlie Patton | 03/30/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This combination of works is excellent. The styles have many similarities, but the Ravel quartet is much lighter. An early work for Ravel, it mimics Debussy in it's style. For more information, buy this recording and read the liner notes (very informative). The Bartok Quartet #3 is very harsh, but beautiful. The members of the Sequoia quartet play with excellent technical skill and musicality in this recording. Often, the Ravel quartet is played too quickly, losing the wonderful melody in a rush. This recording is moderately paced, yet retains the drive of a faster tempo. I would highly recomend this recording if you like to smile when listening to music!"
Wonderful

"Ravel's quartet is amazing, the detail and seemlessness of the music just carries you, its then followed by Bartok giving the cd even more flavor. The Sequoia String Quartet did a wonderful job. I HIGHLY recommend this cd."
